About VapeMate: New Zealand's Independent Gambling Guide
VapeMate is an independent comparison guide built for New Zealand players. We are not a casino, a bookmaker or a betting app — we do not take bets, hold your money or run a single gambling product. We exist to help Kiwis work out which offshore sites are actually safe to use, pay out fast, and treat New Zealand customers fairly.
Who we are and why we exist
Finding a trustworthy online casino or sportsbook from New Zealand is harder than it should be. Almost every site that accepts Kiwi players is licensed offshore — in Malta, Curaçao, Anjouan or similar — and quality ranges from excellent to outright dangerous. The marketing all looks the same: huge bonus numbers, five-star badges, "instant" payouts. Working out which claims survive contact with reality takes hours per site, and most players do not have those hours.
That is the gap VapeMate fills. We do the slow, unglamorous work — depositing, playing, cashing out, reading the fine print, tracking complaints — so you can compare operators on the things that matter to a New Zealander: NZD banking, realistic bonus terms, payout speed, and a clean record of paying people what they are owed.
Our mission
Our mission is simple: help Kiwis find online gambling sites that are safe and fast-paying, and steer them away from the ones that are not. A good recommendation to us is one where you can deposit confidently, understand exactly what a bonus requires before you claim it, and get your winnings out without a fight. We would rather rank six sites we genuinely trust than pad a list with operators we would not use ourselves.
How we work
Every site on VapeMate is scored the same way, so a number-one ranking means the same thing whether it sits on our casino, betting or crypto page. In practice that means:
- Real-money testing. Where we can, we open an account, make a deposit with a New Zealand payment method, play, and request a withdrawal with our own money. That is the only way to see how long a cash-out really takes and how an operator handles identity verification (KYC).
- Monthly re-checks. Offshore bonuses, banking options and terms change constantly. We re-verify the bonuses, minimum deposits and payment methods on our ranked sites every month, and update the page dates when we do — a comparison guide is only useful if it is current.
- Independent evidence. We cross-check our own experience against licensing details and the complaints record on independent forums like Reddit and Trustpilot, so a single good or bad session does not swing a ranking on its own.
- We leave sites off. Operators with a pattern of slow, part-paid or refused withdrawals do not make our lists, no matter how large the bonus looks.
Editorial independence and standards
Our rankings and ratings are editorial judgements made by our team, and they are not for sale. We never let an operator write, approve or edit our verdict on them, and a site cannot buy its way to the top of a page. Ratings are our opinion, expressed on a 0.0–5.0 scale, and we would rather drop an operator than soften an honest assessment of it.
We also try to be straight about what we do not know. New Zealand's online gambling rules are changing — the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) is introducing a regulated online casino licensing regime, with the new framework phasing in from late 2026 — and we hedge claims about licensing, legality and tax to what is actually established rather than overstating the detail. When a bonus figure or payout time cannot be verified, we say so plainly instead of inventing a number.
The team behind VapeMate
VapeMate is written and reviewed by people who gamble, follow the New Zealand market closely, and know the difference between a good offer and a well-dressed trap. Our lead reviewer, Jack Thornton, handles operator testing and rankings; our editor, Hana Wiremu, checks claims and keeps our responsible-gambling standards front and centre. You can read more about who they are, and why they are qualified to assess these sites, on our authors page.
Our responsible-gambling commitment
We only recommend gambling as entertainment, never as a way to make money, and we build that into how we write. Every money page carries age and help-line information, we favour operators with working deposit, loss and self-exclusion tools, and we will not dress up a product in a way that encourages anyone to chase losses. If gambling has stopped being fun for you, support in New Zealand is free and confidential:
